Work Experience
Work experience allows a student to develop key employability skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and time management that employers look for.
Why is it important?
- Good experience for students to experience life in a place of work.
- Learn valuable life skills.
- Work experience will form part of your CV.
- Employers, schools, and universities like to see that a student has experienced the world of work .
- Fun experience.
- Statistics show that if young people experience the workplace more than once, their GCSE results improve.
- If you don’t know what career path to take, then this is a great way of having a go at a job before you decide.
- You may also be able to go back to the company once you have passed your exams and get a full-time job.
How to arrange a placement
Year 12 has the option to undertake work experience throughout the academic year. Students must find their own work experience placement and ensure they hand in a fully completed work experience agreement form to The Careers Team.
If you choose either in-person or virtual work experience, please ensure the appropriate form below is completed.
Please note that without the completed forms, you will not be able to get any work experience.
If you seek Virtual Work Experience, Speakers for Schools and Spring Pod have some excellent opportunities.
